Northgate Baptist Church, nestled in the beautiful downtown North Main Community of Greenville, SC, is seeking a candidate with a heart for the Lord who can lead our worship services and create an environment of worship that glorifies Jesus Christ.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Worship Leader works in partnership with the Senior Pastor, while leading a Worship Ministry and the congregation in a life of gratitude and praise to God. Seeking the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, this person will plan, design, coordinate, and facilitate a unified worship experience – understanding the culture within the church and striving to relate well with church members, yet with reverence for the Lord, above all. We pray for a biblical, prayerful Christian gifted in leadership of all ages, bringing encouragement and vision for worship to the church as a whole. Regular participation in staff meetings with the pastor and other staff and occasional attendance at other meetings is expected as well as any other duties as assigned. The Worship Leader reports to the pastor. This is a part-time ministerial position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Worship service planning and implementation.
- Coordination of Musicians and Volunteers.
- Leading our adult choir, praise band and giving leadership and direction to preschool and children’s worship is necessary.
- Research, locate and make choices about music to be learned and used.
- Prepare music for the worship team: lyric sheets, chord sheets, sheet music, and associated digital media.
- Management of music equipment with the AV team.
- Plan and prepare for workshop events for the purposes of learning new music, developing skills, and team building.
- Lead team in prayer, team building and worship, as well as in rehearsal.
- Work closely with any other teams in planning and preparing for church services or other church events.
- Responsible for all technical and aesthetic aspects of worship and coordinating volunteers who serve in that capacity.
- Plan, implement and evaluate the annual worship calendar, including service formats, themes, and special programs to assure the necessary worship ministry is provided.
- Develop, submit and administer an annual budget for the worship ministry in accordance with the financial directives of the church.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
First and foremost, a Worship Leader is a mature, devout follower of Jesus Christ, is faithful in the pursuit of God including prayer, study and application of the Word, and is committed to our purpose – Seek Him First.
Other qualifications are as follows:
- Steadfast in Baptist Beliefs with a clear understanding of the Southern Baptist doctrine as stated in the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.
- Completes the church’s orientation class to become familiar with the vision and values of Northgate Baptist Church is necessary.
- We see this leader as one called of God and not a hireling of men.
- Possesses personality, temperament and interpersonal skills to relate and serve effectively within a multi-generational congregation setting.
- Exhibits evidence of Christian character and servant leadership in professional and personal environments.
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and personal integrity.
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
- Proficiency in leading worship with a strong vocal ability. Ability to lead with a guitar or keyboard is necessary.
- Well-versed in current worship technology (A/V and multimedia)
- Quality verbal and written communication skills, with computer proficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree from a Christian college or university aligned with a ministry focused major is preferred, but candidates with a strong background in ministry and practical experience in music training will be considered.
- Has an evident calling, quality training, and sincere passion to minister to the church through Spirit-led music.
- Has good time management skills and organizational abilities.
- Is a multitasker who can discern, analyze, and wisely resolve ministry issues.
- Must be detail oriented, flexible, and decisive, with the ability to organize and coordinate work, set priorities, delegate build consensus, and meet deadlines.
HOURS
Worship Leader is a part-time position.
